Garba
On this day, students don’t need to wear the school uniform. They can come to school in traditional or garba-themed clothes.
Since they will be dancing, do make sure the students’ clothing and footwear are comfortable to be worn for the entire duration of the school day.
In case a child is uncomfortable, there is absolutely no pressure to dress up and the child can wear the school uniform.
Kindly avoid wearing expensive jewellery or anything that would upset you if the child loses it!
Students of Std. 3 to 10 must carry folders to school, since they have a Marathi Handwriting Competition on this day as well. Std. 1 and 2 students do not need to carry folders.
Carry tiffin bags as usual.
Bhondla Celebrations (For Std. 1 and 2 ONLY)
How is bhondla celebrated?
Maharashtra is a region, rich in its culture and tradition. Bhondla is one such traditional festival that has stood the test of time, due to the community feeling it generates.
Young children gather around the image of an elephant drawn on a slate and sing fun songs. There is a feeling of oneness that is created, as everyone laughs and sings together.
At the end, the children engage in a small game where they guess the khirapat. This is a sweet treat that is served to everyone as they settle down after the songs and dance. After all, what is an Indian festival if there’s no tasty food awaiting us, at the end?
Do make sure the students also carry their regular tiffin. The khirapat is a small token snack and NOT a full meal.
Kindly DO NOT send any khirapat or prasad from home, with the students.
