STD. 1 to 4

  • Participation is not compulsory, but we do require registration so that we can make arrangements in terms of space and material. So, registration is compulsory. Only registered students will be allowed to participate.

  • There are no charges for this workshop.

  • Do note that informing the teachers in school or sending an email to feedback@walnutedu.in does not count as registration.

What the school will provide : 

  • Decorative paper required to make the lantern

  • Decorative materials like kundan, ribbons, string, etc.

  • Fevicol

Things to be carried from home :

  • Old newspapers

  • 1 cardboard sheet / writing pad to have a smooth surface while drawing and cutting as per measurements (Size : A4)

  • Writing material like pencil, eraser, ruler, etc.

  • 1 pair of scissors per participant

  • Old cloth (for wiping hands)

  • Sketchpens and other additional decorative material (optional)

What should the students wear?

  • Students can wear a civil dress (preferably one they don’t mind getting dirty in!).

  • However, they MUST wear an ID card. Students will not be allowed to enter the school premises if an ID card is not worn. 

Can parents participate in the workshop as well?

STD. 1 and 2 :

  • It is compulsory for ONE responsible adult (ideally, a parent) to accompany the student. This is because the lanterns are of a slightly complex pattern, and students will require assistance.

  • Students will NOT be allowed to participate in the workshop if they come without such an adult.

STD. 3 and 4 :

  • Parents can accompany the student if they wish.

  • In case no parent is going to accompany the student for the workshop, it is important that the child is picked up and dropped off on time.

STD. 5 to 10

Students will be participating in a lantern - making activity during school hours.

  • They will be working in teams and decorating the school, in time for the Dassara and Diwali celebrations.

What the school will provide : 

  • Decorative paper required to make the lantern

  • Decorative materials like kundan, ribbons, string, etc.

  • Fevicol

Students will be carrying the lanterns home from school on the same day.
